Mathias C. Aquino passed away at the age of 73 in San Antonio, Texas on October 18, 2019. He was born on March 18, 1946 in Tamuning, Guam. He is preceded in death by his Parents Ramon and Antonia Aquino, Parents-in-laws Joaquin and Maria Ada, Brother Jose Aquino (Sonny), Sister/Brother-in-laws: Amelia and Ignacio Quichocho, Annie and Bernardo Mafnas, Maria Santos, Felix Ada, John Ada and Franciso Mundo.
Mathias is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Rosita A. Aquino, Daughters MarilynRose A. Aquino, LisaMarie A. Aquino, and ChristieAnn and Jimmy Smith. Grandchildren: DarrylMichael (Elizabeth), EvanMichael (Elizabeth) MarioAnthony, Rianarose; two great-grandchildren: Matt and Kahlea’Kai.
Mathias was also survived by his Sister, Maria Mundo, Sister-in-law and Brothers-in-law, Millie Aquino (Guam), Rosalia Ada (Guam), Fe and Frank Cruz (Guam), Joaquin Ada (TX), Julie and Henry Cruz (Guam), Mitzi Ada (Guam). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles and godchildren.
After high school Mathias enlisted in the United States Army where he served almost 27 years, retiring in Oct 1992, then moved to Georgia and retired civil service, he moved back to Texas in October 2009 with his wife where he enjoyed life with his family. Mathias was also known as the “CD Man” where he sold the famous Chamorro cd’s. He also loved going BINGO with is lovely wife Rosita and friends. Mathias was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will truly be missed, not only by his family, but by the whole San Antonio Chamorro Community.
A Visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 from 5pm-9pm at Sunset Funeral Home with a rosary beginning at 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at 11:45a at Santo Nino Catholic Church with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
