Maurine was born in Brenham, Texas on July 4, 1933, to Albert and Ida Randermann. She attended Brenham schools and grew up in the Lutheran church there. She met and married SSG Clyde Edward Gibson of Edinburg, Mississippi on March 9, 1952, prior to him being shipped off to the Korean War. When Clyde retired from the military in 1966, he and Maurine moved to San Antonio, Texas from Fort Carson, Colorado and resided in their home until their deaths, he in 2013 and she in 2020, after residing the remaining four years at the Serenity Oaks Assisted Living where she was loved by all and taken excellent care of.
Maurine was a wonderfully loving mother and wife. She enjoyed attending church with her family at the Fort Sam Houston Main Post Chapel. She enjoyed playing bingo side by side with her husband. In the early years, she kept busy taxiing the kiddos to sporting events, practices, etc., and also substituted in the Wilshire Elementary and East Terrell Hills Elementary in the cafeteria, alongside her sister Elizabeth who lived across the street from Maurine and had the nicknames of Lucy and Ethel.
Maurine is survived by her children, Catherine Gibson Kohler of San Antonio and Bruce Gibson of Carrollton; grandchildren, Mark W. Gibson and Michael Gibson of Atascosa; Christine Gibson Polendo of San Antonio; Shawn Kohler of Thurmont, Maryland; Kyle Kohler of Lewisville; Caitlin Kohler Boyd of Merkel; Brian Gibson and Laura Gibson of Carrollton; and several great- and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Maurine was preceded in death by her husband Clyde; sons Jonathon Wayne Gibson and Mark Anthony Gibson; all of her siblings (Alex Randermann; Amos Randermann; Bernita Meyer; twin Marion Wehmeyer; and Elizabeth Hohmann), and parents, Albert and Ida Randermann.
Graveside service is Monday, July 27, 2020, 9:00a.m., at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Due to CO-VID restrictions, the service is for immediate family only (children, GRANDchildren, spouses/significant others only). Pallbearers, all family, are Bruce Gibson, Kyle Kohler, Mark Gibson, Michael Gibson and Brian Gibson.
