Nicolaza G. Gonzalez Gutierrez

Nicolaza Gonzalez Gutierrez went to heaven on June 28, 2010, she was 104 years old. She was born in Unas de Gato in Zapata County, Texas on March 4, 1906. Nicolaza was very talented. When living in the country, she was the seamstress, the baker, and the Mom & Pop grocery owner. She ran a little store and supplied dry goods to the area residents. She baked bread and neighbors would smell the bread baking and rushed to her house to buy her bread. She also loved to crochet and knit. Nicolaza is preceded in death by her husband, Lucio Gutierrez and her son, Tomas Albar Gutierrez. Survivors include her children, Elodia G. Cantu & husband, Antonio, Armando Gutierrez & wife, Celica, Eduardo Gutierrez and twins, Derly Gutierrez & wife, Ernestina and Rosaura Gallegos; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; one sister, Eloisa G. Bustamente; and numerous nieces & nephews. Visitation will take place from 5-9:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery #2.
