On Sunday, October 4th, Sostenes ‘Joe’ Seelig passed away at the age of 78 in Colorado Springs, Colorado

Joe was born December 24th, 1941 in Yancey, TX. He enlisted in the army in 1962, and he and Olivia Cuellar married in 1964. They raised two wonderful people, Joe and Melinda.

Joe served in the army for 20 years, and enjoyed a second career as dental technician at the University of Texas San Antonio School of Dentistry. While in the army, he served at Fort Chafee, Fort Hood, Fort Ord, Fort Sam Houston, Walter Reed Medical Center, and overseas in Nuremberg, Germany, and at the Korean DMZ.

Following his second retirement in 2004, he and Olivia moved to Colorado to spend more time with their grandsons, Forrest and Landon.

Besides spending time with family, Joe was passionate about gardening, and bird watching. He was an avid fan of college football, and professional baseball, football, and basketball, and he enjoyed fishing and playing billiards with his grandsons. He was known for his patience, generosity, and a tremendous work ethic.

He is survived by his wife Olivia, his son Joe (Angela) and daughter Melinda (Vincent); his grandsons, Forrest, and Landon; 4 sisters, Rosa, Lupe, Margie, Angelita, and 3 brothers, Alex, Albert, and Jimmy.

Joe has left us, yet he lives on in his children and grandchildren, and in our cherished memories.

Thinking of you and the family during this difficult time. I am blessed to be a part of this wonderful family for 30 years. I will forever remember Big Joe's kindness and generosity throughout the years. He has always been there for me and little Joe.
I will forever cherish all the good times we've had over the years. But most of all I will always remember your commitment to Olivia, your dedication to Joe and Melinda, a wonderful father in law to me and your roll as a full time grandfather to Forrest and Landon. You will be greatly missed by all!
