Verla Mae Cohen

February 20, 1922-September 17, 2014

Verla Mae "Frankie" Cohen passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at her home in San Antonio. She was born in Hover, Washington, on February 20, 1922 to Effie Belle McGuire and John Kirk Franklin.

She met and married Hyman Cohen and they came to Texas and made their home in San Antonio. She worked for the government as a Management Analyst. After retiring she became an avid bowler until medical problems forced her to quit.

A real Spurs fan, she enjoyed each and every game, win or lose.

She was preceded in death by her husband and is survived by her sister-in-law, Ruth Kirsch of Sunset, Florida; her niece, Linda Smaldon and her children of New York, and her niece Audrey Kirsch of Eugene, Oregon.

This wonderful lady will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved her. She was witty, kind and generous.

Her family wishes to thank her caregivers and friends, Aseneth Cuy, Dora Villarreal and Maria (Lupita) Robles for their many kindness and loving care of Frankie.
