I was cleaning a condo today , in Maui, and I heard a little red cardinal and it made me laugh and think of Muriel. Years ago, she would rent a condo at Wailea point, and I was the cleaner for the unit. Year after year she and her husband would come and I  looked forward to her visits.. she was very loving.. and caring. There was a little red cardinal that would come back each year and she was convinced it was same bird and that he KNEW her.. Today I thought, I am going to google Muriel Roston and to my surprise I learned that she just died this month... I watched some of the videos and I really got blessed.. what a woman she was...she  served her friends and community with joy !!! I remember a time when my niece, Lindsey died  at 15 years old and Muriel had food sent to the family's house.. and she didn't know them. We were having a fundraiser for Lindsey before, and Muriel wanted to buy all the deserts for the fundraiser.. such a generous giving woman.. I am thankful for the little red cardinal that reminded me of a wonderful woman that I met years ago...  who blessed me  very much. shelly lauer

                             My Condolences to the Family of  my dear Friend Mrs Muriel Roston.
Muriel & I  met through  our mutual friend ,Janet Wendle  in November  of 1995 and  had so many good meetups and pleasant times together from that moment. Her first line on the phone to me was  so typical of her - she  said : "Hello , I am Muriel  & we must have known each other in another lifetime. I need your help now - to cater an event most urgently in the next 24 hours. Janet says  you're  excellent in this regard.  I trust  her judgement- say Yes ! "   I  laughed and said " Why Not? It's a yes from me. How can I help ? "  and so it all began.....
 I fondly recall a generous, smiley Muriel,  always  happily discussing a plethora of subjects  from food, to human nature, art, her fine paintings; the latest   bestsellers,flowers and  gardening ; performance arts ; her philanthropic passions ,  global  issues  and even  natural healing and spiritual matters & of course,  her beloved doggies. 
Muriel the  happy , down to earth , embracing soul, who lived a full and interesting life, She   was  ever the teacher and student, open- minded;  ready  to   learn from  everyone and to  share her wise insights. May her children ,grandchildren and extended family  treasure  her good mensch legacy and aim to follow in her footsteps.
I know I will always enjoy my delightful memories   of this beautiful  Soul with the twinkle in her eyes and infectious laugh. Now  Muriel  will be  our sparkling , angelic Fairy Godmother in  Heaven , encouraging us all to be our best & most loving & creative versions.
