Ricardo C. Riel Obituary

On Monday, February 10, 2020, Ricardo C. Riel, loving husband and father of two children, passed away at age 89. Ricardo was born on June 9, 1930 in Maragondon, Cavite - Philippines to Juan and Maria Riel. He graduated from Cavite High School and a few years later enlisted in the US Navy in 1953, retired after 22 years of faithful service and then worked for Civil Service and retired in 1993. On December 12, 1959, he married Virginia S. Riel (dec. 2016). They raised a daughter, Rowena Riel and son, Roviric Riel. Ricardo had a passion for sports and vegetable gardening. He also loved to go fishing and was an avid supporter and cheerleader for his grandkids at all their sporting and performing arts events. He loved life, friends and family. And in his senior years he frequented the Donut Stop in Mira Mesa to shoot the breeze with other seniors and retired Navy colleagues. He was known for being a loving husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, & friend Ricardo was preceded in death by his father, Juan, and his mother, Maria and 10 siblings. He is survived by his two children, Rowena, her husband Marvin Tajalle, and their sons Cameron and Nathan as well as immediate son Roviric, his wife April and kids, Rovie, Anthony, Bryan and Jacqueline.
