His family left their Spring Grove, Minnesota farm when Ron was a young boy, to settle in San Bernardino. After high school, he headed for San Diego to attend what was then San Diego State College. He loved his newly-adopted city – its sunshine and beaches in particular. Upon graduation, Ron’s plan for an advanced degree was temporarily interrupted by his service in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. As an officer, he was sent to Wiesbaden, Germany where he was charged with arranging passage home for soldiers leaving Vietnam. He loved the country and the people, and always understood just how lucky he was to be there. Once he returned home, he earned his Master’s Degree and got down to business. His love for numbers propelled him into the field of real estate finance, garnering lifelong friends along the way. In the 1970’s, Ron found new inspiration while seeing Elton John in concert. He immediately bought a piano and taught himself to play. From then on, he turned to his piano and guitar whenever he needed a break. In 1981, Ron married Bridget Asaro. Their 23-year union produced what he called his finest achievements; son Erik, in 1985 and daughter Cecily, in 1986. Ron loved watching them play their respective sports, proudly co-coaching one of Erik’s little league teams, and happily videotaping all of Cecily’s high school soccer games. In the 1990s, Ron’s intelligence and drive ultimately took him to a career in retail services where he put his years of business experience to work, resulting in co-ownership of a string of gas stations and convenience stores in several states. In 2017, Ron took on the coveted role of Papa Ron when grandson JonJon was born. Luca came next in 2018, then Reese in 2019, Mila in 2020 and Jude in 2021. He will be greatly missed by his children Erik (Casey) Myhro, Cecily (Jonny) Ginger; siblings Elaine Walker, and David and Steve Myhro; his 5 grandchildren, nieces Stacy Williams and Kara Walker; and friend and former wife Bridget. A 2:00 p.m. celebration of Ron’s life is planned for January, 11, 2023 at the Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club. 5827 Via De La Cumbre, Rancho Santa Fe, CA 92067. (Please make donations in Ron’s name to the charity of your choice.)
