Uncle Ben, as he was known to everyone, has many nieces and nephews as well as many grandnieces, grandphews, and great grand neices and nephews.
Ben was a very kind and generous person who lived a simple life. He had an infectious smile and enjoyed talking, joking around, and telling stories with family and friends.
He felt his purpose in life was to take care of all his family, especially his sibling's family's as well as all his inlaws and thier family's.
He sposored all of his inlaws to come to America and always opened his home to each one of them and thier families until they could get established on thier own.
He worked for 10 years in the grocery business with his father and brothers in Silver City before later moving to Salinas, California where he joined his two brothers
to work in thier own store.
After the store closed in the early 80's, Ben joined his brother inlaw Henry Chan to work at his restaurants in Concord, California communting on the weekends back and forth
to his home in Salinas for ~10 years. Even there at the restaurants everyone referred to him as Uncle Ben and they all, including the customers, loved him dearly.
In his "retirement" from the grocery and restaurant businesses, Ben never really retired always continuing to help his brothers and sister and all thier family's.
In his spare time, he would frequent the Chinese Community Center in Salinas where he enjoyed playing ping pong, talking with the other elders, and joining in celebrations and festivities.
Ben will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him but we know he is in Heaven resting now with his dear daughter Janet, and all his siblings, and parents.
