Maria Amelia Sanches

Maria Amelia Ramos Sanches, 95 years old, of San Jose, California passed away peacefully from natural causes January 31, 2021. She was born November 4, 1925 in Rosais, Sao Jorge, Acores, married Manuel Silveira Sanches March 11, 1948 and immigrated with her family to the United States in 1969. She joined the Portuguese Community in California as a parishioner of Five Wounds Catholic Church as well as many other Portuguese religious organizations. Preceded in death by her parents Samuel Augusto Ramos and Maria Amelia Batista, her son Manuel Fernando and husband Manuel Sanches as well as her siblings João, Manuel, Jose, Olivia (Pires); survived by her daughter Maria Das Dores Bettencourt and her husband Joe; her son Joe Manuel Sanches and his wife Filomena; four grandchildren, Daniel, Diane, Debra, Christopher; eight great-grandchildren, Isabella, Téabella, Tiago, Jaxson, Talia, Emma, Cruz, Luzia. She is also survived by her sisters Anne Cardoso and Rosa Soares as well as her sister-in-law Alice Ramos and many loving nieces and nephews. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Calvary Cemetery in San Jose.
