Born to Sorn Tep and Phat Sok in Srok Tuk Pous, Kampong Chhnang in Cambodia. Samuth was a devoted father and grandfather. He was also a great uncle to many of his nieces and nephews.
During the war in Cambodia, he did whatever it took so his family could survive the Khmer Rouge regime. He risked his life, stole medicine, food & gave up his children so they could survive sickness and starvation. Some weeks, he starved so his family could eat. His sacrifice and sheer determination helped him and his family escape the Killing Fields and extend their stay at Khao-I-Dang refugee camp, then ultimately migrated his family to safety in the USA circa 1981. Since their relocation, he spent his entire life working to support and care for his family. He also provided services for the Khmer community in the city of San Jose.
He spent the last 7 years in retirement, enjoying time with his wife, sons, daughters, and grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, landscaping, building stuff, painting, biking, and going on walks. An all-around type of guy with the biggest heart and a smile to match, he was respected and well-loved by all those who crossed his path.
He is survived by his wife Yoeurn Nou; his 6 children, Toda Sovan, Sareth Sovan, Chanphal Sovan, Chanmach Sovan, Chanmao Sovan, Sonny Sovan; and their spouses Channa Oeur, Pat Soeung, Siyan Van, Keith Jordon; his 14 grandchildren, Andy Sovan, Amanda Sovan, Carolyn Keo, Regina Sovan, Mallie Sovan-Soeung, Pascal Jordon, Larsen Jordon, Chandonn Norfleet, Myles Jordon, Sylar Jordon, Peter Sovan, Anthony Sovan, Nathan Sovan, Chance Jordon, and 1 great grandchild, Lathan Keo.
