Elaine was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 13, 1923. She graduated from the College of Saint Teresa in Winona, Minnesota where she met her future husband, Thomas Johnston. They were married in 1946 and spent 50 rich years together until Tom’s death in 1995.
Elaine had a passion for duplicate bridge, reading (most recently Walter Isaacson’s “Leonardo da Vinci”), and making each day a bit better than the last. She ended every day saying, “Thank you for a beautiful day."
She is survived by her children: Elene, Molly, Anne, Karen, John (Peggy); her much loved grandchildren: Morgan, Katherine (Swati), Jay, Allison (Elizabeth), Kelsey, Laura and Sidney; and her adored great-grandson, Rohan.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 am, the funeral mass at 11:00 and a reception following mass at St. Hilary Church on November 9, 2018.
