Nancy Spina Tatano, 102, of Harwich, MA passed away August 16, 2019 at Rosewood Manor. She was the wife of the late Andrew A. Tatano. She is survived by a son, Patrick M. Tatano of East Sandwich, MA, a daughter, Dr. Cheryl L. Beck and her husband Captain Charles Beck USCG (ret) of Tolland, CT, grandchildren Curtis C. Beck of Manchester, CT, Lisa N. Beck of Boston, MA and numerous nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by 7 sisters and a brother.
Nancy was born in Stamford, CT to the late Joseph and Carmela (Losco) Spina on March 25, 1917. As a longtime resident of Stamford, she worked as a real estate agent and served as the elected Republican Registrar of Voters in Stamford, CT for 37 years. She was the first woman to hold the office of President of the Connecticut Registrar of Voters Association. Although a Republican, she worked with state and local elected officials on both sides of the political aisle during her tenure counting former State Senator Billy Biagio, former Governor Ella Grasso, former Governor Jodie Rell former Senator Christopher Shays and former Attorney General now Senator Richard Blumenthal among her closest friends and allies.
Upon the occasion of her 100th birthday Nancy was presented with citations from both the Connecticut General Assembly and the Secretary of State at the Connecticut Capitol Building with her family in attendance.
Private funeral arrangements are being made by the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home 154 Route 6A Sandwich, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Nancy’s name to the Visiting Nurses Association of Cape Cod-Hospice.
