MONAGLE, Elizabeth Lorraine (Cronin), of Sandwich, MA, passed away peacefully at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth on Friday, June 7, 2019. She was born to the late Thomas and Helen (Ryan) Cronin in Hingham, MA.
Elizabeth met her husband Paul Monagle, while working the switchboard at an insurance company in Boston. They married in 1958 and moved to Wollaston, MA where they raised their family before retiring to Sandwich, MA in 1990. Betty enjoyed many activities; gardening, volunteering, entertaining, crafts and baking; pie crusts were her specialty which decorated the table at family gatherings. Betty’s main focus was family. She created a special bond with her grandchildren and was always eager to follow their sports and school activities. Her love of the Cape led to many scenic drives up and down Route 6A where she sometimes found the perfect antique. Betty volunteered at the Green Briar Nature Center & Jam Kitchen, Falmouth Hospital and Sandwich Glass Museum for many years. Betty and Paul’s favorite vacation spot was Ogunquit, Maine where the Marginal Way was a favorite destination.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her loving husband Paul by 10 years. She is survived by her daughters; Marianne Parrelli and husband Brian of Rockland, MA, Maureen Carrera and husband Andrew of East Sandwich, MA, Her loving grandchildren Kevin Carrera and Bridget Carrera of East Sandwich, MA and many nieces and nephews. Also survived by Rachel McCormack and her husband Michael of Marlborough, MA and children Sadie and Marshall McCormack.
