Richard was born to the late Louis Evo and Mildred (Fibiani) Cubi in Quincy, MA. Richard grew up in Whitman, MA and loved radios and electronics and the outdoors. He loved to play chess and spent lots of time playing outdoors with his many friends as a child. He graduated from Whitman Hanson Regional High School in 1963.
After high school Richard joined in the United States Army in 1967 and, after serving 4 years, he was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. He worked his way through college and graduated from Northeastern University. He met his wife, Tamara as a pen pal as a required homework assignment while she was in Nursing School. Richard worked as a chief engineer at Northeastern University.
Richard loved to canoe, kayak, fly kites and model airplanes. He also learned to sail and horseback ride on his beloved horse Tango. Richard was also known as the White Mountain Logger as he spent many summers logging in the Whites. Tamara and Richard camped and traveled throughout Europe and the American west and loved to introduce their daughter, Heather to all things wonderful.
He adored his granddaughters Madison and Olivia and took them to NH often. Richard also adored his dogs Echo and Gretta and his Maine coon cat. He and his wife were married for 50 years which was to short. He was the most loving and stubborn man you would meet and he did it his way. We will miss you Pa. Gone Logging.
A Burial service will take place on at 11AM on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
Relatives and friends may gather at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home 40 MacArthur Blvd., at 10 a.m. to proceed in procession the cemetery.
