Allen G. Macris, M.D., was born on the island of Zakynthos, Greece in 1927. He came to America with his brother, John, to join their father, George, founder of Macris Pharmacy in Buckhead. He attended E. Rivers Elementary, then North Fulton High School, becoming one of the Buckhead Boys. He graduated from Emory Medical School in 1952. In 1953, he married Eftichia and finished his internship with Washington University in St. Louis. He served two years in the Air Force as a captain. He did his thoracic surgery training in Augusta, Ga. He and his family maintained a home in Sandy Springs for 64 years. Dr. Macris and his wife were very active members in the Greek Orthodox Church and community.
He is survived by his wife, five children, twelve grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. His loving family is proud of his many great achievements and grateful for the inspirational legacy that he leaves.

A visitation and Trisagion will be held Sunday, March 18 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Sandy Springs Chapel, 136 Mount Vernon Hwy NE, Sandy Springs, GA, 30328. The funeral will be held on March 19, 2018 at 12:00pm at the Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church of Marietta, Georgia on Trickum Road, followed by a graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery. Afterwards the family welcomes visitors at their home.
