Evangeline H. Bercegeay

Evangeline Harrell Bercegeay died peacefully on Sunday, December 9, 2012. Evangeline was born in Douglas, Georgia. She graduated from the University of Georgia in 1945 with a degree in Political Science. She was an active member of Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church for more than 60 years. Evangeline was a beloved wife of 63 years, nurturing mother, sister and friend. She is survived by her husband Edward Wintz Bercegeay and her four daughters: Mary Morton and her husband Kirk; Diane Bercegeay; Ellen Dillard and her husband Jack; Julie Blanchard and her husband Bert; and 7 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Joyce Harrell and her sister and brother-in-law Mary and Bill McGowan. A service celebrating Evangeline’s life will be held, Saturday, December 15, at 11am, in the Sanctuary of Second-Ponce de Leon Baptist Church, Atlanta, GA. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall following the service. There will be a private family burial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the mission activities of Second-Ponce de Leon Baptist Church, 2715 Peachtree Road, Atlanta, GA, 30305, in memory of Evangeline Bercegeay.

Ed, Diane, Mary, Julie and Ellen ... my heart goes out to you in this time of loss. Evangeline was a gracious and sweet woman with a good sense of humor. She will be missed by many. May God grant you the grace and strength you need to make it through this time of loss.
