Gwendolyn U. Hodges

Mrs. Gwendolyn (Gwen) Hodges, age 99, of Sandy Springs, died on May 18, 2013. A native of Elloree, SC she was a graduate of Winthroup University. Mrs. Hodges was a piano teacher and church organist, but her passion was supporting her family and helping them succeed in life. Gwen was married to Dr. Carl Hodges for 71 wonderful years and the two were an inspiration to all those who knew them.

Gwen and Carl lived in Kershaw, SC, Blackshear, GA, Fitzgerald, GA, and Waycross, GA before moving to Sandy Springs 40 year ago. Survivors are children Janet Hodges, Robert Hodges and daughter-in-law Linn Hodges. Grandchildren are Andrew, Brian and Carrie Hodges. All reside East Cobb. Her sister Mrs. Henry Perkins of Clemson, SC and many nieces and nephews also survive. Gwen has requested a graveside service at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mt. Vernon Hwy. NW, Sandy Springs, GA. Interment will be at 11:00 am, Thursday the 23rd. The service will be officiated by Dunwoody Baptist Church where she and Carl were members. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
