Steff was born on February 7, 1951 in York, PA to Lester and Anna Behler. After graduating from West York High, she began working at York Graphic Services as a professional textbook proofreader, where she thrived for the next 40 years.
In November of 1977, Steff was blessed with a son, who she devoted her whole life to caring for. They had countless laughs together and shared everything with one another for 35 years. She enjoyed watching him succeed in sports and business, and told everyone she met how proud she was to be his mom.
Steff was sweet, honest, smart, and had a special place in her heart for animals. Some of her best days were spent with Cotton, Candy, Sweetie, Carmella, Precious, and Honeygirl. She volunteered at the York SPCA and would have taken in all the animals as her own if she could have.
Steff spent 60 years of her life in Pennsylvania, and in 2011 moved to Atlanta, GA, to be closer to her son and daughter-in-law. She enjoyed the last year with them eating dinners at Macaroni Grill and playing with their dog Chloë, before succumbing to ovarian cancer on Tuesday.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Dana Stevens, of Atlanta, GA. Condolences may be sent to 732 Perimeter Walk, Atlanta, GA 30338.
Thanks to the staff and volunteers at Halcyon Hospice Foundation for their care and support. To our friends and family, in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Halcyon in Steff’s honor (www.excellenceinhospice.com or 1435 Haw Creek Circle E, Ste 402, Cumming, GA 30041).
