Vera Delorus Muse, age 95, passed away peacefully June 19, 2022. Vera-or Delorus, as she was known by family and friends, was born on August 27, 1926 in Jacksonville, Florida to Charles and Vera Burnsed. She married her longtime friend and love, James A. Muse, in July of 1945 who, after 61 years of marriage preceded her in death in 2007. Her eldest son, James Victor Muse, also preceded her in death in 2008.
Delorus is survived by her brother, Woodrow Burnsed; sister, Mary Lee Thompson; four of her five children, Ray, Eddie, Larry, and Wade; nine grandchildren Pamela Kinikin, Rebecca White, Brent Muse, Andy Muse, Derek Muse, Laura Brooks, Denise Muse, Heather Muse, and Tiffany Muse, and nine great grandchildren.
Delorus was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She loved her family and instilled in her five sons strong values that served them well. Later in life, she especially loved and took great pride in her role as Grandma.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Delorus. She loved preparing a meal for her family, a quiet evening spent crocheting, spending time in the garden, watching an old Western movie, or reading a book. She had the ability to find great happiness in her daily activities and being with family and friends.
In her final wishes, she said she wanted to be remembered as a hardworking, loving mother, and a loyal, unselfish friend. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Oaklawn Park Cemetery, Lake Mary, Florida. Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home at Oaklawn, 5000 CR 46A, Sanford, Florida 32771 is serving the family.
