Annette, as she liked to be called, moved to Southern California at age 24 where she met and married her late husband, Leland (Lee) Jacobsen of Minden, NE. They lived the rest of their lives there- first moving to Whittier and having their 2 daughters, Kathleen and Kimberly. They then moved to Lakewood, where Annette worked part time at fabric stores while attending night school at Cypress College to receive certification in medical records coding. She worked as a coder for about 30 years until her retirement in 2005.
In her downtime, she loved reading murder-mystery and romance books and making crafts: creating beautiful beaded items, making porcelain dolls, and sewing. Dolls and sewing were her early passions, including sewing clothes for her daughters and some for her grandchildren. In the early 2000’s she made beading her main passion, which she learned from her mother years prior. For 20 years, she, her granddaughter Nicollette, and her friend of 58 years participated in the annual Buena Park Candy Caneland craft show, held every December, until her last show in 2021. Affectionately known as “The Bead Lady”, she made and sold beaded Christmas trees, ornaments, animals, and much more. Watching everyone smile, adore her crafts, and get excited every time they see her brought her absolute joy, and she looked forward to participating every year.
Annette was a smart, loving, talented, independent, and hardworking woman who adored her family dearly, and she was loved and adored in return. She is preceded in death by her best friend and husband of 57 years, Leland; 2 brothers; and 5 sisters. She leaves behind 2 daughters, 5 grandchildren, 1 brother, and 3 sisters, among other relatives. She is missed dearly and her memory will forever live on.
