Clifton Darrell McMath

April 8, 1948 - October 20, 2018

Clifton Darrell McMath passed into God’s loving care on October 20, 2018. Cliff, a native of California, graduated from Blackford High School in 1966. In 1968, he was drafted in the US Army and deployed to Vietnam where he served in the 1st 40th Artillery Battalion as a Personnel & Construction Sergeant until 1970. Upon his return from Vietnam, he married the love of his life, Norma Cornejo and was a devoted husband of 48 years and a father to his daughter, Stacey. Cliff received his AA Degree in Construction & Engineering, which lead to a successful career as an Electrician of 30 years, as a member of the IBEW Local 332, and as a Swimming Pool Designer and Contractor. As a labor of love and his life’s dream, upon his retirement he built his own house on a hill overlooking the Sacramento Valley. Whether you knew him as a friend, coach, veteran, electrician, uncle, brother-in-law, poppy, father, or husband, to know Cliff was a privilege. A conversation with Cliff only had to follow one rule: Mean what you say, and say what you mean. His life’s trials and tribulations led him to be the old wise man on the hill, which seemed to be the best role in his life’s play. Cliff loved his family first and foremost. He is survived by his wife Norma, his daughter Stacey McMath Kauinana (son-in-law: John-Paul) of Sacramento, and by his three grandchildren Mikayla, Justin, and Kendyl. Cliff was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Mildred McMath.

A Celebration of Cliff’s Life will be on Sunday, November 18th at 1pm, Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 N Winchester Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95050. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory at the South Yuba River Park Association at http://southyubariverstatepark.org.
