Dennis "Red" Whelihan Dennis, age 63, passed away unexpectantly at his Santa Clara home on Monday, 23 November. Dennis was an amazing and loving husband of Kathy for over 30 years. He was a father, brother, grandfather, uncle, godfather and friend with a tremendous love of life. He is survived by his son, Jason(Suzie), brothers Gary(Diane) and Tom(Nancy), sisters Sharon(Steve), Karen and Nancy (Roy) and grandchildren Nathan and Erin, sister-in-law Sally, brother-in-laws David(Ronda) and Mark(Grace) and many friends. He will be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews who enjoyed his funny stories, quick wit and unapologetically fiery spirit. Dennis was an Army Veteran stationed in Korea during the Vietnam conflict. After leaving the Army, he completed his apprenticeship in Painting and worked as a journeyman painter for many companies in the Bay Area for over 30 years. Dennis and his wife, Kathy, enjoyed visiting the grandchildren, antique shopping, flea markets, art galleries, museums, going to see the SF Giants and senior bus trips. Dennis will be remembered for his quick sense of humor, his colorful language, his love for Nascar racing and hot rods. He loved building car and airplane models, working in his flower gardens and finding quirky collectables. He enjoyed the simple things in life and never embraced the new era of technology; i.e., no cell phone or computer. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dennis may be made to AutismSpeaks.org or Melanoma.org Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, 12 December at the Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 N. Winchester Blvd., Santa Clara, CA
