Elver Orlando Lee - born May 18, 1927 in Gateswood (Baldwin County), Alabama, departed this life to enter into an eternity of joy in Heaven with his Lord and Savior on September 1, 2023. E.O. Was married to Doris Carnely on September 21, 1950, and has been a resident of Saraland, Alabama for the past 65 years.
During his youth, from growing up in Gateswood with 8 brothers and sisters, during the Depression, molded his life to come to be strong in body and mind. He learned to enjoy the outdoors and became an avid hunter and fisher through necessity and a zest for the rugged outdoor life. Mr. Lee went to serve in the Army for 4 years during the end of World War II in Germany and later finished high school and received his diploma.
After graduating from high school, he and Doris Carnley were marred and had 3 children, Mr. Lee worked at International Paper Company for 41 years and retired to his passion of outdoors. If you ever met Mr. Lee, you never forgot the experience, for good or bad.
Mr. Lee had a big heart and was a great friend to many. He would help anyone in any way he possibly could.
E.O. was preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. and Mildred Perry Lee; his wife Doris Carnley Lee; son-in-law Pat Thompson; and his 8 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his children, Olivia Lee Thompson, Ann Lee Ray(Gary), and Paul Lee; grandchildren, Jason Ray (Heather), Ashley Ray Kieta (Thomas), and Christina Owens; and great-grandchildren, Peyton Ray, Justin Owens, and Andrews Owens. He is also survived by devoted friend and companion Mrs. Ruby Flowers. They loved each other dearly and spent time with each other every day.
The family of E.O. would like to thank all of his and our dear friends and family for lifting him and us up daily in prayer during this emotional time. Your prayers have made it possible for us to face each new day.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
