As a young woman, at age 18, Audrey was a pioneer in taking herself alone to New York City to pursue a career. A few years later she married and gave birth to her son. Audrey spent most of her life in New Jersey, where she worked 24 years at the East Orange School System as a secretary in various levels of administration and guidance.
She was known by family and friends for her generous, kind nature and a desire to practice her personal spirituality in daily living. She was an advocate of always looking for the good in each person she met. She believed kindness trumps all.
Her quick sense of humor and positive attitude brought joy and light to all.
She had many interests, including a love of literature, which was reflected in service to several libraries, the most recent being Bay Village; she loved a good bridge game, knitting sweaters for family and friends, interior decorating and had a deep appreciation for the arts. She and the late Chris Van Panhauys of Bay Village started the BILL group (Bay Village Institute of Lifelong Learning) in the early 2000's.
She was beloved wife of the late Archibald J Galloway. She is survived by a son, Robert Preston, two stepdaughters and fourteen step-grandchildren. She will be remembered fondly.
A memorial service will be held within the next week. In lieu of flowers donations would be appreciated to a charity of your choice or practicing an act of kindness to a stranger.
Arrangements under the direction of National Cremation & Burial Society, Sarasota, FL.
