
Beloved veterinarian, Craig Moore, 74, a long-time resident who practiced Veterinary Medicine at Moore Animal Clinic on the Island of Venice, passed away on February 13, 2012, at his home surrounded by family. Dr. Moore had suffered from an extended chronic illness.
Born March 11, 1937, he grew up in Red Lion, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Margaret and Claire Moore. He has a sister, Charlotte Raub, and is an uncle to her children Kim and Janice Raub and Kerry and Joe Dywer.
He graduated from West Chester State Teachers College in 1959. Following graduation, he married his college sweetheart, Joan Shadle Moore. He entered the military, and flew with the U.S. Navy until 1966.
After leaving the Navy, he attended Auburn University, College of Veterinary Medicine, and graduated in 1972. After closing his veterinary practice he worked with the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Orlando, where he served as a Public Health Veterinarian and retired in 2005.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Moore, daughter and fiancée Colleen Moore and Kevin Lyman, of Venice, Fl.; his son, daughter-in-law and grandson, Craig, Jennifer and Jesse Moore of Seattle, Washington.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, February 18 at Unity Church of Venice, 125 North Jackson Road, Venice, Florida 34292 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. The sanctuary is on the corner of East Venice Ave. and N. Jackson Road.
