Bunny was a great grandmother to Emily and Marshall Ford of Clearwater, FL.
Doris June Whedon was born on Easter Sunday, April 16, 1933, which earned her the nickname Bunny, a name she carried throughout her life. Born in Chicago, IL, she met Gene after graduating from Downers Grove High School and soon married in 1954. Bunny and Gene lived the majority of their lives in and around the western suburbs of Chicago with St. Charles, IL being the most memorable for them and their family. Gene and Bunny were long time members of St. Charles Country Club where they spent countless hours with friends and family. Lake Geneva, WI, where they honeymooned, and Sarasota, FL were also very memorable places for them. They retired to Sarasota, FL in 2003.
Bunny was many things to many people. She provided great love, support, and guidance to both her immediate and extended family. Bunny always carried a friendly demeanor, treating everyone with dignity and respect. She also maintained a wonderful sense of humor which her friends and family remember well and with great fondness. Her support for Gene’s career in the banking industry was fundamental to his success. Gene and Bunny were a team in everything they did together in life. Their marriage was truly an example for their family and friends. Bunny loved long walks and spent many hours outside tending to her yard and garden.
Bunny requested a private family memorial. Memorial donations can be made to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Road, Sarasota, FL 34238, or the Salvation Army. Her family wishes to thank Tidewell Hospice for their care of Bunny in the end and also thank all the care givers at Harbor Chase in Sarasota
