Monday, September 5, 2011, while residing at The Pines of Sarasota, Brigadier Eunice Blackie, 93, completed her commission as a retired Salvation Army Officer and passed on to her eternal rest in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Eunice was one of three children born to Ronald and Olive Blackie in Ulverston, England. She emigrated to the USA at the age of 9 and served in the Salvation Army since 1940.
Her entire life and love was service to others. She is preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother, Erma Ainsworth, her brother, Norman and her sister, Audrey Swanson.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 4 pm at the Salvation Army Center of Hope, 1400 10th St, Sarasota.
