Mr. Bolter was a 1961 graduate of Highland Park High School in Highland Park, NJ. After a short stint at University of Miami in Miami, Florida, Mr. Bolter joined the United States Air Force where he was an Air Traffic Controller from 1962-1966, serving first at Ramney Air Force Base in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico and later at Patrick Air Force Base, near Cocoa Beach, Florida. He subsequently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Monmouth University and completed his master’s degree studies in Human Resources Administration at Fairleigh Dickinson University.
He worked in the Banking industry, but was always clear that he was not a “banker.” Mr. Bolter worked in Human Resources Administration for Chase Bank in New York City, New York; Franklin State Bank in Somerset, New Jersey; and finished his career in Princeton, New Jersey as Senior Vice President for Human Resources/Systems Administration for Summit Bank, which was ultimately purchased by Bank of America.
Mr. Bolter was most recently known as a wonderful neighbor who was always willing to lend a helping hand – setting up automatic timers, troubleshooting a sprinkler system or pool filter, repairing and customizing golf carts, and acting as the IT “help desk” for his Waterlefe Golf and River Club friends. He was often seen riding around the community on his golf cart, with his ever-present sidekick Abby (his Spanish Waterdog) in the passenger seat.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Ellen; loving children, Lisa Gast (David) of Great Falls, VA and Adam Bolter (Justyna) of Glenview, IL; four cherished grandsons, Josh and Zack Gast, and Dominic and Lucas Bolter; and his (man’s) best friend, Abby. Guy is preceded in death by his sister, Marjorie Covey.
