
Lloyd Philip Duncan passed away on November 5, 2017. He was born October 28, 1920 in Newburg, Missouri to George and Bessie (Loughrige) Duncan. He moved with his parents to Washington, Missouri at the age of 5. Upon retirement in 1985 he became a snowbird in Venice, Florida and a full-time resident in 1998. He was called into military service during his junior year at the University of Missouri and served 34 months with the Army Engineers in North Africa. After his service, he joined with his father and brothers to found the Zero Manufacturing Company. He and his father were pioneers in the development of refrigerated dairy equipment. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Anne (Duncan) Jones; by brothers Leon, George, and Sam; and one sister, Vivian. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Caroline; one daughter, Pamela (Duncan) Backhaus; a grandson, Duncan Jones; a sister, Charlene (Mrs. Jim) Jackson; two sons-in-law, Philip Jones and Keith Backhaus; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, December 7, at Venice Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's, Tidewell Hospice, or Venice Presbyterian Church.
