Robert William Campbell
February 6, 1924 – February 20, 2021
Robert William MacRae Campbell, died Saturday February 20, 2021, at 97 years of age. He was born February 6, 1924 in Golspie, Scotland. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, William (Scotty) Campbell and Mabel Campbell, son William Wallace Campbell, and sister Mabel Hindman.
He is survived by his deeply loved companion, Peggy Forte, children Sheri (Chuck) Harris, Bob (Valerie) Campbell, grandchildren Diedre Harris, Elijah, Noah, Morgan and Dylan Campbell, and great grandchildren Devin Harris and Kenzo Matisse Marc.
Bob served in the US Army in Europe during WWII from 1941 through 1945, where he proudly served as a combat soldier including his service at the Battle of the Bulge.
A lifelong lover of golf, from an early age Bob played competitively and gathered acclaim and titles from tournaments all over the country. Eventually, Bob turned his love and skill of the game into a career and became a golf pro, ascending to the position of Assistant Pro at the prestigious Oakhill Country Club in Rochester, New York.
Following his golf pro positions, Bob was a successful salesman for Vaisy-Bristol Shoe Corporation until he retired at age 55 and moved to Florida.
In Bob’s retirement years, one of his great joys was playing golf with his dear friends Joe, Jimmy, Sarge and Dick in Sarasota. Off the golf course, Bob and Peggy relished their times that were spent sharing love and laughter with their delightful friends, Pat and Sarge, Janet and Jim, Tom and Eileen, Joe and Lorraine, Suzanne, Joan, Sis, and Barbara.
The ultimate gentleman, Bob always had a word of gratitude, encouragement, or kindness for anyone with whom he crossed paths. His greatest wish was to be remembered as a gentleman, a feat he accomplished in his lifetime and one that will continue through his legacy by all who knew him. Bob will be missed by so many. Though he will carry on in our hearts, the world will definitely be a lesser place without him in it.
The family wants to thank all of his good friends for the cherished, shared times that they spent together. We are grateful for the wonderful staff at Brookdale Colonial Park for their loving care and friendship. He truly loved all of you and the residents that he befriended while living there for the last four years. Peace Be with You All. We are so grateful for the place each of you had in his and our lives. As Dad would always say, “We love you more.”

To Bob & Val -
My deepest sympathies to you both as you bid this dear man farewell. It was always so evident to me, during the days and years we spent together, how much you cared for and loved your dad, Bob.
I pray for your comfort in the days to come as you bear the emptiness without him. How blessed you were to have him this long! And yet, the time was so short! May Peace rest upon you.

Bob was the most elegant and gentle of souls. It was our total pleasure to have known him and to have shared these many years with him and Peggy, Bobby and Valerie. He has left a hole in the lives of us all. His memory will be with us for years to come. Eileen O'Neill
