Bob is my mother's cousin, and I never, in all the years, knew he was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force.  He mentioned, once or twice, that he had been a navigator, but never said anything else. Bob would be so happy to know that my son is now pursuing a career in the Air Force, and is a Cadet in the Air Force ROTC at Liberty University. 

We enjoyed Bob's great wit and keen mind whenever we had the pleasure of his and Jutta's company either at the University of Chicago programs or at the Art Institute of Chicago shows or at any get together. We will miss him.  Mary Ann Whelan and Marvin Mirsky

I worked with Bob at Continental Bank for many years and served with him in the Air Force Reserve.  Bob was a great guy who was admired and respected.  My condolences to the family.

I first met Bob in 1958 when we were both undergraduate students at the University of Chicago.  Bob had just left active duty where he was a B-47 Navigator.  I recruited him into the Air Force Reserve which met at O'Hare Field. [Before it was an International Airport] We finished two years at Chicago and then moved on to full time employment in the area. We kept in touch through the years and both maintained our ties to the Air Force Reserve.  Bob entered the Master of Business Administration at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business in 1966 and I followed him a year later.  He graduated in 1967 and I graduated in 1968.  He went to work at the Continental Bank where he rose to the rank of Vice President. I went on to full time service with the Air Force.  Through the years we flew C-119s and C-130s achieving over 5,000 flying hours. We were crewed together hundreds of times over a period of more than 20 years, both becoming Standardization instructors and check crew members. We enjoyed numerous social activities both with the Air Force and later. I last met with Bob in August 2010 just before he suffered his fall. His quick wit and outstanding analytical  mind was always ready to challenge all comers on all the subjects that filled our daily lives,  Bob was truly a Renaissance man. We miss him deeply.  When he passed the mold was broken.  A man for all times, when he left us few will achieve all that he lived. Godspeed dear and precious friend...

From the time we first knew Bob back in Chicago at the University of Chicago Extension lectures to meeting in the lobby of Sarasota's Opera house, we always enjoyed his sunny smile and comments.  We send our sympathy to Jutta.

To Bob's family my sincere condolences. Bob and I worked at Continental Bank on some projects at the bank together. He retire a couple of years before I did.

The O'Hare Alumni Association sends its deepest condolences on the passing of Lt Col Tragnitz.  He will be missed.

My deepest sympathies to all of Bob's family.  Although I haven't seen Bob in many years, I have many fond memories of family gatherings, and will miss Bob greatly.
