Louise Murray, age 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, January 24, 2018. She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Mary Gillis; 5 brothers and a sister; husband Keith Murray; and her daughter Sherri. Louise is survived by her son Shawn; daughter-in-law Karon; grandson Chris and fiancé Mandi; grandson Curtis and his daughter Dahlia; also by other extended family and friends. Mom was born April 12, 1935 in Regina, SK and grew up there before moving to Saskatoon around the age of 20. It was in Saskatoon where she met and fell in love with Keith Murray, eventually getting married on January 18, 1958. They were blessed with the birth of their daughter Sherri in 1962 and then a son, Shawn in 1966 to make the family complete. Mom loved sports and was the biggest fan of Keith, Sherri and Shawn and later Chris and Curtis, in whatever sports they played. She especially loved baseball and golf. After years of playing golf she retired her clubs, but could be found most weekends in front of the TV watching whatever tournament was on. Mom and Dad both had a love for travel, which started with camping trips to Meadow Lake and Greenwater when Sherri and I were young. This was followed with family trips to Disneyland, Florida and Hawaii. Later in life, Mom and Dad enjoyed many fun trips with great friends to Mexico and Hawaii. Much of Mom’s energy and devotion was focused on her grandsons Chris and Curtis right from their birth. She was a constant source of guidance and love that they will always cherish. She was a voracious reader who made countless trips to the library where she would load up her bag with the next month’s books. She also enjoyed the challenge of crossword puzzles, which she would do on a daily basis in the paper, as well as in many books and on her computer. 2 ½ years ago a beautiful bright light came into her life, with the birth of Dahlia, her great-granddaughter. They spent countless hours together shopping, playing and of course reading. Dahlia put a spark in her GG’s eyes which remained until she passed, but will always be reflected in Dahlia’s eyes. The family expresses special thanks to the Neurology staff at RUH for the care and attention they generously gave to Mom and her family. In accordance with Mom’s wishes, there will be a Private Remembrance held in her honour. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (1738 Quebec Ave #26, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9). Arrangements in care of David Schurr – Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
