On the morning of June 16th, Onnolee slipped away peacefully with her family by her side while in the loving care of staff at St. Paul’s Palliative Care Unit. She maintained her witty sense of humor until the end, leaving us with a smile to accompany our tears. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Marlow; son Darcy (Tami) & their children Brendan & Dalton (Ariel & Harley); daughter Kristen Shymko (Glen) & their children Alyssa & Alanna (who were the apples of her eye); & her Brother Beverly McCallum. Onnolee was pre-deceased by her parents Erwin & Garda McCallum, brother Murray & her beloved American Eskimo Chinook.
Onnolee was born in Eatonia, moving with Erwin’s career until she graduated in Foam Lake. She went on to business and teachers’ college, eventually teaching home economics and typing in Milden. After marriage to Marlow, they moved to Maryfield for a few years, but it was the move to Bengough where she raised their family. She became the School Secretary for many years before moving to Regina, completing her working career transcribing Provincial Parliamentary sessions with Hansard at the Provincial Legislature. After retirement Onnolee moved to Saskatoon to be closer to family.
Outside of work Onnolee enjoyed camping, sewing, and shopping trips to Plentywood and Minot. Onnolee loved to spoil her family and friends with the many deals she would find! She also enjoyed sharing good humor and awesome family meals where everyone would get together and reminisce.
Onnolee will be greatly missed by those that knew her.
