Maureen Agnes Dankworth (nee Leahey) passed away peacefully in Toronto on January 9th, 2024, at the age of 82.
The most loving and caring mother, wife, grandmother, and sister, Maureen leaves behind her husband, UIrich; her children, Kevin (Jennifer) and Richard (Jane); her granddaughter Arielle; her sisters, Nora and Joanne; and many caring nieces, nephews, and friends.
Maureen was raised by her devoted parents Jospeh and Mary Leahey in Orillia, Ontario, with her 7 siblings. Growing up in an environment where the entire family demonstrated integrity, a strong work ethic, and compassion, Maureen dedicated her career to serving others as a Nurse. Maureen attended St. Micheal’s Nursing College in Toronto, Ontario. Upon graduation, Maureen took a position as Nurse at St. Micheal’s Hospital in Toronto, and then accepted a Nursing position at the Addiction Research Foundation in Toronto (now Centre for Addiction and Mental Health). It was during this time that she met and fell in love with her adoring husband, Ulli. After marrying Ulli and raising her two sons, Maureen returned to serve those healing with addiction as a Nurse at Bellwood Health Services.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled in the Spring of 2024. The family requests that in lieu of flowers and cards, a donation is made in Maureen’s name to the Alzheimer Society of Canada (https://alzheimer.ca/en).
