Irene Marcella Latham, age 65, of Calumet Township, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2015, at Community Hospital with her loving family at her side. Irene was born December 1, 1949 in Ages, Kentucky to the late Henry James Caraher and Clara Irene Caraher. On June 12, 1981 she married her husband Walter Latham, he survives. Also surviving are her children: Ronald James (Lisa) Weins of Gary, Melissa (Lawrence) Hendricks of Gary, and Rachel (Nicholas) Botts of Calumet Township; seven grandchildren, and dearest friends Connie Young and Glenda Fletcher. Mrs. Latham was a private home healthcare nurse for years in the surrounding area. She was a loving and devoted wife, mom, and grandmother. Irene selflessly cared for many and will be remembered for her genuine service and nurturing others. Funeral services will be Monday, February 2, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 S. Cline Ave.; Schererville, IN 46375) with Pastor Bob Parnell officiating.
