You had been a loyal friend to my dad and a friendly presence in our home growing up. You have been a great gift to so many who will never know of your great service and love. The world is a better place b/c you were in it. Thank you for sharing!

I became concerned when our Christmas cards were returned, and now my heart is breaking in finding out that you are with the Lord.  I will always remember your old red truck pulling up on a Sunday, and you coming in with some bakery goodies and a great story.  (I especially liked the one about the ghost in the graveyard).  You were a hard working, humble and decent man who carried the scars of war privately, but I sensed it affected you deeply.    Your friendship to our family will never be forgotten, nor will your service to our country be taken for granted by me.  The Lord blessed our family by you being a part of it.  Butch, you are now at peace.  God rest my friend.
