Raymond Francis Crittenden, Jr “Big Ray” was born on 11/6/1933 in New London, OH to Raymond Sr and Kathryn Crittenden. In 1951, Ray graduated from Keystone High School in Lagrange, OH. In 1961, Big Ray sold his service station and moved with his wife, Betty, to Arizona. Big Ray passed away on Friday, April 19th in Scottsdale, AZ surrounded by his family. He is proceeded in death by his parents, sister Marjorie, and son Billy Lee.
Big Ray leaves behind his wife of 59 years, his children: daughter Kathryn, son Raymond III (Debbie), son Russell, daughter from previous marriage Melinda (Gary). Grandchildren: Heidi, Michael, Ashley, Shawn, Kate, and Joe. Great grandchildren: Shawn Ryan and Steven Ray. Ray also leaves behind a brother James (Carol) and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ray also leaves behind a legacy of living his life exactly how he wanted. He loved his family and friends fiercely.
Ray was an active member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, South Phoenix Lodge# 2072. He held degrees in Pilgrim Degree of Merit, past state President of AZ/NM Moose Association, Lifetime Member of Mooseheart and Moosehaven.
All three of Big Ray’s sons served in the US military and Ray was also a standing member of the VFW.
Big Ray will be missed by his many friends and loving family. There will be private family service at a later date.
