Obituary of Twila Lua Griffith
Twila Lua Griffith, of Scottsdale Arizona, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2022 to be with our Lord. She was 95 years young. Twila was born on May 29, 1926 in Hastings, Nebraska to Whitfield and Lola Re Adamson. Her early life was spent in Nebraska until her family moved to Cherokee, Iowa. At 15, she went to work for an attorney in Cherokee. Twila attended Drake University where she met her husband, Leroy H Griffith. They were married in Cherokee on September 14, 1946. They had two daughters, Rebecca Re and Judy Rose. They moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1958. Twila received her degrees, in Library Science, from Arizona State University. She took a job, as librarian, at Ingleside Elementary/Middle School where she taught for the duration of her career. She often signed her name as “The Happy Booker.”- An article was written about her and her special signature in the Scottsdale Progress newspaper. Upon retirement, Twila volunteered in the First Baptist church library and with the Teacher’s Retiree luncheon group. She also enjoyed water aerobics, reading, puzzles, crosswords, and ancestry. She loved her friends and family. She was often likened to Betty White due to her wit, sense of humor and likeness. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Twila is survived by her two children: Rebecca and Dale Whitmarsh; Judy and Paul Montague; grandchildren: Ashlee and Richards Hankes; Jeri Michelle and Dr. Erik Blake; Evan and Laurie Kogen; Stephanie Iafrate; and great-grandchildren: Chloe, Camille, Kaden, Jax, Jahna, Christian and Jenee, Marcus and Nicholas. In Twila's honor, services will be held Mon., May 23, 2022 at Green Acres Mortuary (401 N Hayden Rd, Scottsdale, AZ) with a Visitation 3:00 - 4:00 pm and Funeral Service at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials can be made in Twila’s name to charities close to your hearts.
