Valice Lee Vaughan, 79, a long time resident of Arcadia Park of Dallas, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 24th, 2019, surrounded by his loved ones.

Valice was born in Chilton, Texas on January 31st, 1940, to Marvin Lee and Sarah Teresa Elizabeth (Lehman) Vaughan. He grew up as a Texas Farm Boy near Waco, where he and his family were share croppers, working the fields, picking cotton and farming other crops in the Hot Texas Sun. He received a license to preach the Gospel from Parker Baptist Church of Grandview in 1957. He spoke of the hardships of changing schools frequently because of the seasonal jobs his family worked, however he graduated from Kopperl High School in 1958. Valice went on to attend Texas Barber School and received his license. He made a life long career as a barber and shop owner in Dallas, which afforded him a never ending line of jokes that he collected over the years and loved to share.

In 1969, Valice moved his wife Sammie Kay (Cannon) Vaughan and two boys from Grand Prairie to the Arcadia Park section of Dallas. In 1970 his beloved Sammie passed away, leaving him widowed with his (Wes) 8 and (Kirk) 5yr old sons to raise on his own. In later years, he welcomed a toddling little girl (LaVonne) and a wife Dorothy (Bennett) Vaughan into his family. In 1973, they had a new baby girl (Stephanie) of their very own.

Valice loved spending his days off of work with his children, family, and friends. Fishing was a hobby he enjoyed most. Sunday was also free haircut day for his extended family. He treasured his family, and enjoyed telling funny stories, especially of his childhood. He loved to tell how his parents hooked up while walking home from school. His daddy (Marvin) told his friend he would walk with a beautiful (Sarah) and the friend could walk the other girl home. The friend informed him they were both his (Lehman) sisters. Valice enjoyed sitting on his porch and waiving at those who passed by. He has also been known to Wolf whistle at the girls. He looked so forward to his yearly road trips to see his cousins at the Lehman family reunion, as well as, attending the school reunions with his brothers, Red and Ernest. Valice will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was a humble, kind man who showed respect to all. Lived a simple life and was content with what he had. His sweet smile and silly faces along with his “oh Yea” to show his agreement, will be treasured.

He is survived by his children, Wes Vaughan and wife Marie of Phoenix; Samuel Kirk Vaughan of Dallas, Stephanie (Vaughan) Garland and husband Steve of Garland; LaVonne Clark and husband Kevin of Garland. Grandchildren: Cayla and Colby Vaughan, Steven and Joey Headen, Michael and Jennifer Pullen. Great Grand Daughter Brooke. Sister in law LaBarbara (Anders) Vaughan, Woolsey; Numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceded in death by his father Marvin and mother Sarah; wife Sammie, wife Dorothy, his brother and sister in law Eugene (Red) and Jean (Gloshen) Vaughan and brother Ernest Vaughan. Nephews Danny and Clay Vaughan.
