Mary Elaine Koper, 94, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2020 in Kirkland, WA. She had been a resident of Kirkland for 10 years. She was born on May 19, 1926 in San Francisco, CA to Antoinette Elaine Sage Seidel and Anton Karl Seidel.
Mary was an avid swimmer and performed in synchronized swim teams as a teenager. As an adult loved to travel, read and complete crossword puzzles with her daughter, Carolyn. She was a life-time member of the Order of the Eastern Stars, was Worthy Matron of the Oroville Chapter and a Grand Officer for the state of Washington, and enjoyed their service projects and community. Mary worked throughout her life in a number of roles in bookkeeping, insurance, legal assistant, and banking with an amazing attention to detail. She was a loving mother, sister and aunt.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester A. Koper (1975), her sons, Stephen J. Koper (2018) and Robert A. Koper (2019), and her sister, Beatrice Y. Wiese (2019).
She is survived by her son, Art (Chester A.) Koper, her daughter, Carolyn E O’Keeffe, her grandson, David G. Koper and his wife, Kayla, her sister, Bozena D. Hollaway, niece, Kathy E. Oliver and her husband, Don and daughter-in-laws, Earlene Koper and Terrye Light Koper.
Mary was independent, strong-willed and tenacious to the end and made her last journey as she wanted – a solo performance with no audience wanted or needed. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
She will be laid to rest on September 25, 2020 under the direction and care of Evergreen-Washelli Funeral Home, Seattle, WA.
