Mitsuko was married to Magno Gale for 35 years until his passing in 1990. As a couple they moved to Seattle in the 1950’s and attended school to learn to speak and write English. While in America Mitsuko became a devoted Catholic and worshipped at St. Edward Parish for over 60 years. She worked at Boeing as a lead shift supervisor in the fabrication unit, and retired after 29 years. After retirement she traveled the world: Australia, New Zealand, South America, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Canada, and Mexico. She went on cruises to Alaska, Hawaii and the Caribbean, and toured New England in the autumn, and visited Spain, Italy, France and the Vatican City where she was able to see the Pope.
Mitsuko loved spending time and babysitting her grandson and grandnieces. We called her Nana and she always looked forward to her annual vacations with her grandson. Mitsuko enjoyed playing tennis, skiing, swimming and going out for lunch, especially getting to eat Dim Sum, her favorite. Her hobbies were ikebana, Japanese calligraphy and teaching Japanese tea ceremony. She was recognized for excellence in her Japanese brush writing. She became a master tea teacher and received recognition for 45 years of service and traveled to New York to receive her award.
In 2001 Mitsuko survived a brain aneurysm. After her recovery she continued to enjoy life and always had a positive attitude and a kind heart. She always stated that she was “lucky." Toward later in her life she enjoyed her daily walks with her dog and loved to go to the YMCA to swim and relax in the Jacuzzi. At the end, she was a fighter but lost her battle to cancer. She will be missed by her loved ones and by all the many lives she touched.
