Mrs. Sandra Jean Standley was born in Mondovi Wisconsin on July 15, 1945 to the late Rufus and Ivanell Steinke of Wisconsin. Sandra passed away peacefully at her home in Burien in the early morning hours on Thursday March 15, 2018. She was surrounded by her family as she entered into eternity.
She moved to Washington in the early 1960’s. Growing up she attended Evergreen High School where she received her diploma. Sandra worked in the retail industry, tended bar, and worked for the Washington State Ferry system. She married Roy Standley on October 10, 1970 and they spent the next 47 years together.
Sandra had a great love for her family and pets. She loved to have people around her all the time. She was a great planner of family gatherings that included holidays, birthdays, family reunions or other special occasions. She was a tenderhearted loving mother, wife, grandmother, and soon to be great grandmother. Her grandchildren knew they could always count on help from their grandma if it was needed.
Sandra is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Roy of Burien, her sons Michael and Patrick, her daughter Kathleen, her five grandchildren, and her extended family.
There will be a memorial service at Yarington’s Funeral Home in Seattle Washington at 11:00am on Friday March 23, 2018 followed by a celebration of life at White Center Pizza in White Center Washington.
Sandra was a giving person and requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
