Our family has lost our matriarch, Auntie Choling. She was always positive and encouraging - whether it was giving tours of her garden and tasting the fabulous Asian pears, getting up in the morning even though she ached and had pains from the accident where she was hit by a car while walking in a crosswalk, or talking about the cooking tips she learned from watching Julia Child. The neighbors admired her garden and the flowers in her yard. In her later years when she no longer drove, Auntie Choling enjoyed family visits, especially welcoming our relatives from the Philippines to hear their news. She offered hot tea with gracious and generous hospitality, even ordering pizza for us. When our parents were alive, they rotated hosting the various holidays cooking the Filipino foods that we crave today. She will be sorely missed by us all.

Fill not your hearts with pain and sorrow, but remember in every tomorrow. Remember the joy, laughter, the smiles. So dry your eyes and remember me, not as I am now, but I used to be. We will do that Ate Choleng, because we love you so much. please ask Felipe to guide us everday.

I was really blessed to have known "Mom". She was an amazing woman, full of wisdom, love and grace.

I see her generous spirit in her daughters Jo and Rebo and in my own two children Jamie and Devin. I think her legacy will live on in her great granddaughter Nikki, who already exhibits such a sweet and kind nature just like her great grandmother.
