Violet Medak

Vi Medak, B.8-10-1928, D.3-21-2018 Vi died from complications following a stroke. She had been ill for the past several months. She was born in Aberdeen Washington to John and Gertrude (Mathews) Medak, attended schools there and graduated in 1946 from Weatherwax High School. She attended Eastern Washington College of Education where she earned her teaching certificate, and then began teaching in the early 1950's in Washougal, Washington, where she is fondly remembered yet today and was often invited to class reunions of those students she taught way back then. She moved to the Seattle area in the early 1970's teaching at Sunset Jr. High, and then Evergreen High School as Councillor. She held two Master's Degrees, Principal's Credentials and was listed in the Who's Who in America's Teachers. She is survived by her three siblings, Martin Medak of California, Frank Medak of Yakima WA, and Walt Medak of Vancouver WA, along with several nieces and nephews. There is a unique void where she once stood, never again to be filled with the likes of her. Such a loss that we'll never hear that infectious little laugh again.

A great mentor, and counselor in high school. Always supportive and helpful. I cannot count how many times I was in her office making my long term plans post high school. She helped a lot of kids like me and not just with school issues, I’m glad I knew her, the world lost a guiding light but heaven got a wonderful angel. I’m sorry for your families loss, thinking of you at this difficult time .

Ms. Medak walked the halls & breezeways of EHS & always had encouraging words to offer & her smile was unforgettable. She made my day! Truly an inspiration to all. She lived her God-given “calling”. I have missed her all these years! God has her now and what a blessing she is! Looking so forward to seeing her in eternity one day!!!

Vi was a very special person. Rob and I loved listening to Vi &Tessie talk about the old days of living as young women in Seattle, the Clubs on 99 and just good old fun. We had talked about what a fun and historical movie we could create! We loved our trips with Vi and Tess to the far reaches of the world. She was the most chilled person ever and a wonderful friend. She will be missed.
