Kevin Duke entered this life on August 19, 1991 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Juanita K. Duke and Richard Edwards. He was the younger of two boys. Kevin’s mother preceded him in death on May 24, 1992. He was only 9 months old at the time of her death. Kevin’s aunt, Juanita’s twin sister, Vanita had no biological children of her own but took Kevin in and served as a loving mother to her nephew until he was almost 13 years old.
On May 8, 2005, Vanita passed away. As a result, Kevin went on to live with his Uncle Garry and Aunt Sandi. Kevin attended Shawnee Schools where he enjoyed playing football, playing video games, watching sports and hanging out with his friends. Oh… and he loved to eat. He was an active member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Kevin was a very outstanding football player. He made ALL State in football and he also received several other awards. After graduating from High School in May of 2010, he received a football scholarship to attend college and play football at Ft. Hays State University in Kansas. Kevin remained there until his passing.
He leaves behind to cherish the memory of his life brother, Christopher Duke of Shawnee, OK; Aunts and Uncles, Garry and Sandi Duke of Shawnee, OK, Paula and Stephen Anderson of Choctaw, OK; Marcus Abraham of Tulsa, OK; Terry and Ricky Smith of Edmond, OK; Sherry Hardin-McCullough of Midwest City, OK; Sharon and James Ham of Edmond, OK; Grandmother, Etolia Abraham of Midwest City, OK; Cousin, Deborah Mustin of Shawnee, OK; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will cherish his memory as well. His visitation will be Sunday, February 13th from 12 to 6pm and Monday, February 14th from 8 to 8pm at Resthaven Funeral Home. His service will be held 11am, Tuesday, February 15th at Liberty Baptist Church of Shawnee, OK with burial to follow at Westwood Cemetery in Wewoka, Oklahoma.
