David was born May 29, 1934 in Hillsdale,WI to Elmer and Estelle (Aaserude) Klefstad.
He graduated from Barron High School in Barron, WI, class of 1952. David furthered his education at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire before graduating from Marquette University School of Dentistry in 1963.
He served his country in the US Army, stationed at Fort Ord, California from 1956-1958.
On May 29, 1964 David and Penelope Lee Wiegerling of Sheboygan were united in marriage.
David practiced Dentistry in Sheboygan from 1963 until his retirement of May 2000.
The couple moved to Glenbeulah in 2005.
Dave was a member of First United Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher. He was past President of the Sheboygan County Dental Society, past Trustee of the Wisconsin Dental Association, and member of American Dental and Chicago Dental Associations. He was a Fellow and Master with the Academy of General Dentistry. David was a Life member of the Sheboygan Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. 299 and a member of the "99" Club.
As a past President of the Sheboygan County Master Gardeners, Dave continued to be active in the organization. Dave's pride and pleasure was his rose garden. Many will remember him entering his roses at the County Fair competitions. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends, golfing and golf trips with friends and traveling with Penny to many parts of the world.
In addition to his wife Penny, survivors include two children, Kirsten (Scott) Langkau, Oshkosh; Kirk (fiancée Kelly Wichmann) Klefstad, West Bend; three grandchildren, Jessica (Bob) Leeds and their son, James, Trevor and Katie Langkau; and other relatives and friends.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and brother-in-law, Leone and Carl Darrah.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, 1:30pm at First United Lutheran Church. Reverend Todd W. Smith, Pastor, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held at the church on Tuesday from 11:00 am until the time of service. Entombment will follow in Gardens of Peace Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
David will always be remembered for his love of family and taking great pride in his skills as a dentist. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
