

Toby Levinio Martinez, born on Thursday, May 22, 1947, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024, in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born in Taos, New Mexico, to the late Levinio Martinez and Piedad Archuleta.
Toby honorably served his country in the Military for 27 years, retiring in 1992 as a Sergeant Major. He was a distinguished veteran of both the Vietnam War and Desert Storm, earning recognition for his exceptional service, including the Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star with one Oak Leaf Cluster and numerous other decorations. He had worked for the United States Postal Service for 18 years, for a combined 45 years of federal service.
Toby will always be remembered for his kind spirit, unwavering integrity, and his ability to bring joy and laughter to those around him. His impact on his family, friends, and community will be cherished and remembered always.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Judith “Judy” Martinez, and their sons Guy (Carrie), Jason (Melanie), Timothy (Christy), and David (Cris). Siblings Ray, Philip, Sara Jane, and Rex; along with 25 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Toby was also preceded in death by his son Mathew who passed away December 12, 2014, and a grandson, Timmy.
A Funeral Mass to celebrate Toby’s life will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, in the chapel of Hardy-Close Funeral Home, 285 South Buckman Street in Shepherdsville with burial to follow at Brookland Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring and remembering the life of a remarkable individual on Friday, from 2:30 pm until 8 pm and Saturday, 9 am until the time of service at 10 am.
