Angela Marie (Franck) Dionne of Skowhegan passed away peacefully in the company of family on Monday, February 26, 2018 in Augusta at the age of 93. She was born March 10, 1924 in Ste. Agathe, and was the daughter of Donat J. and Delia (Martin) Franck. She was predeceased by brothers Armand, Anthony, Renaud, Maurice, Donat Jr., and Marc, along with sisters Loretta Ready, Emma Sirois, Cecile Langlois, and Annie Carpentier.
She graduated from Skowhegan High School in 1941. She married the love of her life, Col. Albert Ernest Dionne on November 19, 1945 and celebrated 57 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2003. Together they proudly raised five sons, two of whom predeceased her (Michael in 1974 and Alan in 1978). Surviving sons are James (wife Joyce) of Winter Haven, Florida; Martin (wife Nancy) of Sinclair; and Peter (wife Sue) of Farmingdale. She was Mémère to four grandchildren: Dr. Andrew Dionne (wife Mary) of Sidney; Laurie Babcock (husband Jesse) of Cape Coral, Florida; Caitlin Ceresia (husband Adam) of Chelmsford, Massachusetts; and Chelsey Ryan (husband Kayne) of Brunswick. She was Grand-Mémère to Emily Rose, Vanessa Lynn (deceased) and Andrew Martin Albert Dionne; Ainsleigh Story Babcock; Stephen Charles Ceresia; and Madeleine Sue Ryan. She is remembered by daughter-in-law Kristine Longstaff (husband Charles) of Winthrop and sons Joey and David Longstaff. She thought fondly of Ryan and Randall Tondreau.
Angela is also survived by special nieces Pauline Frechette (husband Ted) of Venice, Florida; Joanne Hall (husband Dick) of Dexter; and Angela Towle (husband Don) of Smithfield, along with numerous other nieces and nephews.
She was an outstanding loving wife, mother, mémère, sister, and aunt (tante).
Angela and Albert retired to Skowhegan in 1981 and enjoyed eighteen winters in Florida. She especially enjoyed family, golf, bowling, cribbage and Bingo. She knitted hundreds of pairs of mittens each year that she donated to children in Somerset, Androscoggin, Kennebec, and Aroostook counties.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 4-7pm, Thursday, March 1 at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, March 2 at 11, at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church, Skowhegan with Rev. Fr. James Nadeau, celebrant.
