Born in Fall River the son of the late Leroy and Annie (Howard) Borden, he was a 1940 graduate of BMC Durfee High School and a United States Army Veteran of World War II.
Mr. Borden was employed as a Machinist for several years with Brown & Sharp in North Kingston and later as a Machine Set Up Man in Warren before his retirement in 1967.
He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and American Legion. He was an Avid Boston Sports Fan and enjoyed traveling with his wife.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three children Christine Comella and her husband Thomas of Johnston, RI, Nancy Wiseman and her husband Michael of West Palm Beach, FL and Michael Borden and his wife Gail of Fall River and three grandchildren Andrew R. Galuska, Candice Borden and Thomas Comella Jr. and his wife Beth; and two great-grandchildren Thomas and Nicholas Comella.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 8am from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT ROSE E. SULLIVAN 866 County St., Somerset followed by his funeral mass at 9am in St. Joseph’s Church, 1335 N. Main St., Fall River. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in his honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or New England Center for Homeless Veterans 17 Court St., Boston, MA 02108. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Fall River.
